Anyone got any experience with diving lake Winnipesaukee. My wife wants to try it this year. Any recommendations?

I noticed that it's about 500 ft above sea level. Do we need to make any adjustments to the dive computers?

The best shore dive on Winni is probably Clark's Point in Wolfburo. A very fun easy dive worth the effort. If coming from Alton Bay, look for the hospital on the right and then turn left on Clark Point Road, goto the end and park. You get in at the bottom of the hill over some rocks.

The main structure is a boulder field straight out, to the left is the drop off where you can get deep (if desired). The bass are very friendly and you will be assigned one when you submerge.

Use a dive flag, two reasons 1) the local water patrol will cite given half a chance, and 2) there is a lot of boat traffic. So only surface (if you can) near shore for safety.

You can look on my web page for several reports on this spot.

Cecil..

Are Clarks point and McKinney Park one in the same? The descriptions sound the same. We skin-dove Mckinney and it was just as you describe. We hope to get back there soon to scuba dive.

The rock structure was significant and some of it almost looked man made. Dito on the boat traffic, fortunately there is a significant drop (a wall I read somewhare) not too far from shore.

Same place. The location is Clark's Point, the park at the end of the road is McKinney Park.

I don't recommend the drop off to the left. We did it once and when you get below 40' it get's very, very cold and dark and there's nothing to see. The boulder field is the most fun and deep enough (20-30').

Lady of The Lake, being the most famous. She lies right next to the boat channel out of Gilford Harbour. Boat dive only. There is also a train off Weir's Beach. There are several charter boats on the lake.

Do I hear a ScubaBoard rally brewing?
