Sunset charter Trip Report July 9, 2010 - Jack, Grytch, Dean and Mike came out to dive at Cypress Creek Wall for a Friday Sunset charter and the weather held out nicely. Picked up the group at Mansfield Dam boat dock near the ramp, easy load and off we went.

You can see in the photos it was another treasure hunt of a dive. This dive yielded watches, a pearl earring (still have to confirm if it is real or not), a penny, many glasses including genuine Ray Ban Aviators, and one of the most interesting finds of any dive yet - a cigarette painted marijuana one-hitter. Couldn't smell anything funny in it because it was in the lake, but it didn't look like it had been there long.

Come out for a dive before all the good bounty is picked through! Space is available on the Sunday charters. Send a reservation request from Welcome to Lake Travis Scuba.

What about finding my stainless steel plow anchor with chrome chain?

Besides finding the one-hitter, can of beer, money and mushroom anchor I believe we have a better idea on where the stainless steel anchor is located. The diver who identified it did not have a lift bag so it was left in place, next to the barrels.

I have confidence it will be recovered soon. A Friday Sunset charter is scheduled, why not come out and assist with the recovery?

Hey Robert,

You got any recent video :bash:of Shaker Plant underwater with this fabulous viz?

:internet:

Here is video of the Shaker Plant pipe, taken July 5, 2010. The pipe is in one of the LCRA archive photos shown during the presentation last year. It is about 20' long from base, which is buried in the silt, to top. Visibility is very good below 45'.

Shaker Plant pipe - Lake Travis, Austin, Texas

Top of pipe current depth - 70' (Lake level 674')

Hey Robert,

Any video or pictures you are holding out sharing with us from this last few weeks of great Lake Diving conditions?

Here is one of my short clips from Aquarena a few weeks ago:

The Sunset charter dive last night was at Cypress Creek Wall. The divers stayed around the 50'-60' depth. The pictures at Lake Travis Scuba's Photos - Cypress Creek Wall - Lake level 629' (full lake 681') are from the wall last year when the lake was at 629' (lake is full at 681').

This site has been a treasure hunt on each dive since the party barges are tying up there more frequently. Vis has been very good below 50'.
