The lifeless body of a man was recovered on Friday afternoon from Lake Thun, in the territory of the municipality of Sigriswil (BE). The victim was discovered more than 100 meters deep during a search operation carried out with an underwater robot, the Bernese cantonal police said on Monday.
Lake police specialists were able to retrieve the body afterwards. He is a 68-year-old man from Switzerland. He had been missing since Wednesday, May 11, in the canton of Basel-Country. According to the investigators, the man must have gone alone to dive in Lake Thun. Despite extensive search measures, the diver could not be found. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
