Ber,
Thanks! It is funny, I thought I did a pretty good search on amazon, but somehow missed cris kohl.

Are they good for a visiting diver, in regards to logistics, locations, dive plans, etc?

Cheers.

I use his Great Lakes guide books for my trips and they are accurate for my purpose, research for picking wrecks when I book with a charter operator.

Haven't been able to find the anchor at Tobermory on the shore dive though LOL!

OH, I also had the pleasure of meeting him a couple years ago at Our World Underwater. Great guy! He signed one of my books for me and let me know that version is out of print :D

Here's his website

I have both of "The 100 Best Great Lakes Shipwrecks" books, both "Dive Ontario" books, "Kingston's Shipwrecks" and the "Great Lakes Diving Guide" (I use it the most).

Also check out the Scuba Diving magazine website on diving Lake Superior's (and others) preserves. The web is a great tool for doing this kind of research and as you note the Amazon search engine is not perfect.

The dive planning is not that hard with a little research and a few phone calls. Keep in mind that outside the season, some of the dive operations are part time or casual, so it may take a few days to get a response to an inquiry.
