Anyone get out today/yesterday in Laguna or PV? Thinking of hitting both this weekend and just wanted to see how things are fairing given the recent weather. Thanks.

I drove around the hill today. Vet's had non-stop surf, low but relentless. Marineland had sets, especially at the point but the water wasn't as muddy as I expected. It may be clear enough to dive by tomorrow.

Hey Rainer. I did my usual route around PV today. From San Pedro/pt. fermin to Malaga/Torrance.
The weather is absolutely beautiful, 80 degrees, no wind, sea surface is very smooth from white point to point vicente, (Hawthorne Blvd,). Once you round point Vicente the swell kicks up and the surf is 4-6 foot, (west swell), from CTC to Bluff cove, (lots of surfers out). I could make out Catalina, but there is a brown haze/fog about 15-20 miles offshore, but looking towards downtown LA and the mountains it is quite clear.
Now for the bad news, everywhere the VIS, (judging from the cliffs/bluffs), looks quite bad. A milky beige color, probably due to run off from the cliffs.
A few of us are heading over to the backside of Catalina/Farnsworth Bank on sunday and hope the VIS there will be good and the seas not to rough.
Hope this helps.

I ran down to Oceanside today. The surf is pounding Laguna and every where else. Looked like decent surfing at San Onofre, since there was no wind at all. Vis was also in the dumps. They were even surfing on the east (protected) side of Dana Point Harbor.

Lets keep our fingers crossed!

Ugh. We were going to try Laguna tomorrow, and Marineland on Sun. Any thoughts on where our best localish bet might be for tomorrow? Crappy vis is ok, no vis not so much. Pounding surf is a definite no go.

It is lightening up a little. I'll be back down to Dana point again in the AM, I should be able to get a report out to you by 10AM but I bet that would be too late.

Phil, you've dived Marineland about a zillion times. With your experience what would an entry be like on a day like today? Do able? Worth it? Or will it just be murky and surgy if you made it out?
