Laguna beach vs Deep Blue

Any thoughts as to the comparisons between Laguna Beach and Deep Blue in Utila

Can't give you a comparison, as we're in the same boat as you right now, considering which one for an upcoming trip.

I can tell you that several years ago our stay at Laguna was great. An excellent, very well-organized dive operation, good food and fine accommodations. They have a pool now since we were there, so that's a decent little plus for them.

Wouldn't hesitate to go back, except that we like to try something new, even if returning to the same general area. That's what caused us to look at Deep Blue.

I can't give you a comparison either, only having stayed at Deep Blue. That being said, however, I would say our stay and our diving experience at Deep Blue last March was one of our best trips yet. Their dive operation and dive masters are top notch. Steve and Jasmine, who own the resort, are awesome as well. I have some odd food issues and I tend to not like to make a big deal of it, so I was just going to eat what I could find. Jasmine made a point, however, of making meals especially geared to my dietary needs. I was relucatant at first to have her go out of her way, but she insisted. I was very appreciative...they just want everyone to be happy and to have a good experience while there. There are only 10 rooms, so you get to know the people who are staying there at the same time quite well. Anyway...I would highly recommend trying them out.

Well, I guess I'll be a vote for LBR.. no comparison here either.. We went to LBR in march of 06 for the first time and this summer will be our fourth trip back. Twice at the resort we've had a boat with 4-6 divers for most of the week, so perhaps we've been lucky, but it doesn't get much better than that. We go back for the people as well- the owners, Troy and Edith, have treated us very well- probably much like Steve and Jasmine do their guests- and the resort staff is a big part of why we keep heading back. We're headed back this summer, mid-June, so if that is around the time frame you're thinking, PM me and we might be able to get you group pricing at LBR. We also like being able to fly in Sunday-Sunday and avoid the traffic at the Roatan airport... what a difference that makes
