I've only been reading scubaboard for about a month now, so I really don't "know" or recognize user names that well yet. I'm just curious as to what the ratio is of men to women here. It seems pretty obvious to me that there are more men than women on the boards, but what would you estimate it to be percentage (or ratio) wise?

Just wondering! :)

Welcome to Scuba Board. I never thought about the ratio. If it's not 50/50 the ratio of women is growing!

I think there more men, but we are catching up ! :)

Gotta agree with that.. Right now, I'd guesstimate the ratio to be 60(m)/40(f)

You could restate this as a poll.

I agree.. I would say its about 60-40..

I imagine the board software could cough up statistics on this? (obviously only for people who put it in their profile.)

There's no way to tell since reporting your gender isn't required. OTOH, I know of another board where it is required. While the membership there is not even close to this board (approximately 3% the size), the ratio there stays around 65:35 - 70:30 in spite of efforts to target women in recruiting. I have noticed that a higher % of female members are active posters giving an impression of a 50:50 split.

Wow, I was under the impression that it was more like 90% male, 10% female. I'm glad I was wrong about that! I guess most of the threads that I've read have been answered by males for the most part, so it seemed to me that scubaboard.com is predominately male.

Don't get me wrong...I adore guys! But there's something about "sistah's" that just can't be beat. :)

Thanks everyone!!

Seems to depend on the forum. For example, I think there is a higher percentage of guys in the gear and technical forums, but a higher percentage of females in the photography and non-diving related forums.
