Well that explains how he found it with no compass groping and feeling his way to it...

My hand IS good!

mwhities:
I know the flow of the O(cean/Gulf?). Hey, on the way back to the beach, WITHOUT a compass, I lined right back up behind Bahama Boobs! Ask halftime and mike4hire. :p

Michael

One dive in optimal conditions

I always take my compass regardless of who is leading. It is just nice to know if you get a little turned around where to go.

paulwall:
I was diving my double 72's, which a friend of mine tells me are too heavy for beach diving. They were fine in the parking lot, and for the walk to the water. They trimmed out well (eventually) in the water and were very comfortable. We entered E of the pier, naturally. There was a mild offshore and W push. We were to submerge, swim W to the Pier, and then S along the pilings, then North along the pilings, then E to exit.

Again, faith in my compass took precedent over instinct and common sense. Although, this time I had a victim - mwhities joined me in my folly. I started swimming W, then North, then over corrected, and swam SSW finally reaching the pilings at what I assumed was the N end of the broken section. We turned to swim S across the break. Vis was about 30', jellies were there, but not thick, and we were in about 20' of water.

Next time try entering in the waterright under or directly next to the pier. I counted the number of pilons before the break and then how many after the break and wrote it down on my dive slate, this came in very handy underwater. Next time you go try this. Also once you hit the break go out to about the middle and you will see some rubble. It continues to the west. Maybe next time you come down I can go with you. I dove it with halftime a little while ago for the first time and had a great time.

Good point, but
I was diving my double 72's
, which were great once the water took the weight off my back.

Since all of my gear is now up for sale (on consignment at Temento's), It's doubtful I'll dive with you.:shakehead: I'm keeping the snorkelling fins, snorkel and mask...:snorkels: :snorkels:

SuPrBuGmAn:
I hope you're kidding.

Has he ever before?
