I've only been to Cozumel once before and when I asked a taxi driver to take me to La Palapa, he acted like he was either confused or just didn't want to take me there. Where exactly is La Palapa and what is it?

There are, of course, hundreds of palapas (small "p") on Cozumel. I don't know of a club, hotel, restaurant, or shop there by that name, though. Just curious - if you don't know what it is, why were you trying to go there?

When I stayed at SCC, it was recommended as a place to get some fresh fruit (Mangoes). Also I read on a recent trip report on this forum, that they have ribs and chicken cooked over a wood fire. I'd like to go there to get something to eat when I'm there this weekend.

Moodiejeff:
 My thoughts exactly

Has the board really degenerated this far? Sheesh!

Sorry, I didn't realize I was being degenerate, I just thought I'd like to find out how to get to a place that I wanted to eat at.

You're twisting what I said... plus I edited for content. You beat me to the edit. your 1st post was a bit confusing though.

You caught me on the same day as the guy who's letting his taxi driver plan his trip. My apologies, I'm feeling a bit moodie today.

You need a better search engine. From gocozumel.com:

La Palapa Just across from Rotiseria Truinfo, this is my favorite place for ribs. It is also on the corner of Ave. 30 and Calle 4. You can take out or sit down and eat. I normally order a half kilo (about a pound) of ribs and it comes with black bean soup, rice, tortillas, soup and hot sauce.

Sound interesting. I will be there the third week in March. Please post your experience there when you get back..... you degenrate.;)

Thank you very much Mossman. Paradise Hunter, I'll definitely post my experiences when I get back. Jeff, you assumed the worst and made a negative statement without even asking for clarification. However, I didn't make it real clear what my situation/intent was, so there was some room for confusion - apology accepted. Internet communication always leaves room for ambiguity and confusion. Thank you all for your help.

That description has made me hungry for ribs!!!..... we'll be on island the 2nd week of March (in case we run into any of you other 'degenerates'!! ;) LOL!!!) .... maybe we'll get a chance to check it out!!!!

LOL!! I actually thought Jeff's degenerate comment was in reference to him thinking just like Gordon!!! :) I guess I've been reading both their posts for too long on the boards!!!
