Hello all!

I will be in L.A. during the first week of August and was wondering if someone could recommend a place to get a day or two of guided diving?

Where would be the "don't miss" dive sites that I should try to get to?

I realize that there are many options in this region and look forward to some input from you good people!

Thanks!

Greg

You can always get a day of guided dives out here on Catalina Island where we actually have visibility! Either ScubaLuv (310-510-2350) or Catalina Divers Supply (310-510-0330) can set you up on this. You could do this as a day trip from Long Beach, San Pedro, Marina del Rey, Newport Beach or Dana Point; or spend a night here IF it is midweek. The hotels are expensive and often require two night minimums during season. You can try the Hermosa Hotel (and be sure to get a t-shirt that says "I Survived the Hermosa"). It is very reasonably priced, basic but clean and often used by divers. The Seaport Village hotel is another diver friendly option.

You could also try taking a dive boat trip from the mainland, and getting buddied up with another diver on board.
