Hi,

new here... I am working in KL in July and I have 1 week free, 3rd week in July. Please any advice on where I could or should go diving. Are there spots near KL? How is the weather in July? I am looking for any kind of diving with wildlife and plant and macro life and relaxing time out of the water.

Any advice much appreciated.

Look into Pulau Weh. It's a short 1hr 20mins flight from KL to Banda Aceh with Air Asia, and the divings great - mimic octopus, frogfish, mantas, eagle rays and reef sharks.....

Check out Lumba Lumba.

Thank you! It sounds like just what I am looking for. :)

Are you local, or do you work there?

PS - Visa's - does anyone know if I can get a Tourist Visa for Indonesia when I am in Kuala Lumpur. I have a British Passport.

As you have a British Passport you are entitled to get VOA (Visa On Arrival) to go to Indonesia, when you arrive at fee of US$ 10.00 is charged for a 3(three)-day stay Visit Visa (single entry) or a fee of US$ 25.00 is charged for a 30(thirty)-day stay Visit Visa (single entry).

from KL to I would go to lang tengah (I've been twice there, also last March). Cheaper and less crowded then Redang and perhentian islands. There are buses leaving from Putra (PWTC) Station to Kuala Terengganu at 10.30pm 11.00pm midnight for about 30ringgits one way each and manage the transfer from there to jetty->resort so no worries (I paid RM 25 / pax / 2 ways)

On way back do the same, there are quite few buses mid-day early afternoon to be back at KL in the evening, ask the man of transfer to buy the ticket for you or buy same morning like I did it. Going by bus you can dive till last day!

I'd have to recommend my OW instr. Lynn: Discover Scuba Home - Discover Scuba Sdn Bhd; I can PM her cell # to you if you want.
quite gentle with students and doesn't rush through the course; for the OW part we went on a boat trip to pulau Jarak (NW of KL)

Just back from KL - I went diving with LumbaLumba on Pulau Weh, Indonesia. It was excellent, I can highly recommend the place, people and the diving. I'll post more details later...
