I'm planning to go there with my grown son in July. Jeff Jones, the Manager of Kona Honu used to manage our local shop here in Boulder before moving there 5 years ago. May I ask where you stayed (or would recommend -- doesn't need to be upscale, just clean). Also, what was your vehicle rental situation? Tanks in the trunk for the shore dives? We almost always stay in the Waikoloa Resort area north of Kona since we stay at Hilton Grand Vacations properties. The only other place we have stayed is at the Courtyard by Marriott right by the pier in Kona. It's in a nice location, but is just a large, chain hotel.I'm planning to go there with my grown son in July.
