we are booked and headed to Kona for the first week of November. Is this a good time for the Manta night dive? Are there any particular critters we are more likely to see this time of year? We will be diving for 5 days and shooting video.

If you are extremely lucky, you might be able to spot a whale. My employee had a mom and calf swim past, and return for one more pass, in early November two years back, but we rarely see them before mid/late December... and usually on the surface, not underwater.

Otherwise, most everything here is year round, with the occasional bloom.

Have a blast!

robint..we are also going to Kona in November 2006 from Phoenix. It will be our first real dive trip. We are Nitrox and Advanced certified. Lots of classes not enough diving!

Which shop(s) are you diving with? Any other recommendations are appreciated.

We'll be in Kona the 1st week of Nov too! I wanted to dive with Steve's op, but he's going to be on vacation that week :( so I booked with Kona Honu Divers instead.

Jessica,

CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming Hawaii wedding...very cool. We may dive with Kona Honu...did they cut you any kind of a deal? Any other suggestions on staying, eating etc on Kona? Maybe we will see you on the boat! Bob

Don't miss out on the black water dive after the manta dive! It is most awsome!!!! Search here for "black water" for details and pics. Enjoy your visit.
Aloha

Bob,

We're staying at the Royal Kona, but I've never been before, so I have no idea what's good.

We're doing the afternoon/night (manta) dive on the 7th with Kona Honu. The rest of our dives will probably be shore dives.

:)

Wildcard,

Thanks. I searched under Black Water and did not come up with any specific dives. Can you help? Any other suggestions.

Bob
