I've been diving since 1977 with a big honking knife strapped to the inside of my left leg. Never lost one ( I've broken a few), never had it snag on anything (and I dive in Kelp), and it looks macho. All the women say so. 
Knife on leg or bc?

Really you should have both, a large one on your leg and a smaller one on your BC, that's too much trouble though so I just go with the BC knife

I take one of those chain saws that work on compressed air. You know, the kind the fire guys have.
