So I've got some problems with one of my knees and am wondering if there are any special things I should watch out for (beyond 'keep it strong and don't tweak it on the entry / exit  )

Specifically I've got a "small enchondroma". I can't find that on webmd but understand it's a small bone lesion. Dahlin's Bone Tumors: General Aspects and Data on 11,087 Cases
By K. Krishnan Unni has more info but none that helps me understand if I need to worry about this diving (and my I didn't get the impression that my GP had a full and complete handle on it, beyond "lets check back in 6 month to see if it's grown").

Something you diving docs would worry about? I realize this might be a bit too specific. :)

Thanks in advance.

An enchondroma falls into the spectrum of developmental joint disease. It's simply a place where the process of cartilage maturing into bone didn't proceed normally. It may or may not have any clinical significance, and it may or may not progress into anything more worrisome.

Your doctor is right, in my opinion, just to watch and wait.

And knee problems are frequently helped immensely by strengthening the muscles that cross the joint, because the knee is a particularly poorly designed joint, and very dependent on its muscles to support normal tracking.

Thanks Lynne. Good to hear.

So my gym regiment has your approval :D

Yes, when done rationally (i.e. not overdone), exercise programs to strengthen the quads and hamstrings are one of the best things you can do to protect your knees.
