Don't know how big a deal it was to the rest of y'all, but I picked up my permanent C-Card today. Had the retirement ceremony for the Temp card and got a rush.

Yeah, I know, no big thing, but it sure made me wish this was a dive weekend. :(

Congrats Jim. Soon you will have so many of them, you won't know what to do with them. Heck I'm only a couple shy of a full deck of cards! LOL!

Sea you in the Deep Blue!

when I recieved my first permanent C-card back in '94. It made it seem more real even though I had already made several dives with the temporary card. Congrats BLTN one down and many more to go.

B-L-T (-Never),

Just thought I would "sandwich" this in. That card is a wonderful passport, isn't it! This weekend, next weekend and every weekend!

A little suggestion: I made a couple of cc of my C-Card and carry one along with me in my dive log. Just in case I forget or lose the original. Every dive shop I have ever asked has said they would accept a Xerox cc. However, what has been interesting has been the number of times I have not been asked to show my C-card. Always outside the US--where liabilty laws are less egregious--and where Americans would have a hard time suing!

Enjoy the card and wear the edges off!

That first card IS a big deal! Treasure that memory.

Glad to know I'm not the only sentimental, cornball, romantic in the crowd :)

Definitely intend to wear the thing out.

I agree with Joewr about carrying a copy with you. I have one in my wallet and one in my log (go to your office supply store and get one of the "Credit Card" holders. works great at keeping it handy).

This way I don't need to carry my log with me when I go toy shopping, and I don't need my wallet when on a dive boat.

Jimbo - congrats on your perma-card! I know exactly how that feels... got mine in June and was particularly happy with the new dolphin pic on the front.

:)

Let's just give a :thumb: :thumb: salute.

Special moment for even the macho guys out there when they get there c cards. And I agree the dolphin on the front is really cool.

Never thought about the copy of the card to carry. Will do that tomorrow.

I just looked at my dolphin c-card again...did you folks ever notice the length of the strobe arm that guy has on the camera??? Looks like he could use it to fend off curious sharks (or take pictures inside of them).
