Hi gang! I am finally going to make it to Key West. Do we have any divers close enough to buddy up with? I got a little good advice on what boat to use. ANY hints and/or tips for Key West in general would be appreciated.

Dont mind splittin a room, its already booked, and theres two beds.

Take a picture of that sunset, will ya? :)

If you have an extra day, take the ferry out to the Tortugas. (its incredible) Of course you must do the Duval crawl with obligatory stops at Sloppy Joe's and Captain Tony's.

As far as the diving, I am mostly focused on bugs (sportsman mini season is July 24 and 25) We usually rent a boat from Aaron's marina on Stock Island and pick up tanks next door Key West Diving Society and head south for the part of the Western Sambo reefs that are open to harvesting (The marina will give you a map and directions) Take a GPS device if you have one.

Have a blast, I can't wait to go back, we will be there for a week on labor day.

Just my luck, missed the mini season by just a couple of days.

I appreciate the rest of the post tremendously. I probably should spend time looking up places to go, and things to do. but I have found that asking my diving buds gets the most accurate accounting. I appreciate it !

And DEE, I will try to take a pic of the sunset. Just for you. (Like I could get anywhere near as good a shot as you do.)

;)

As far as dive ops go, Corsair can't say enough good things about Sub Tropic. He says that the staff is ultra-friendly and helpful and will ensure you have a great time.

Hey David - let me know where you go and what you enjoy! I'm headed down there on Aug 27th to Sep 3d.
