a friend and i are planning a dive trip to Key Largo for March 13, 14, and 15. We intend to dive only wrecks (Spiegal, Duane, Bibb). Right now its just the two of us, but would like to get a group of about 6-8 people together. We already know the charter we would like to use, just have to make some final arrangements. If anyone is interested, just send me a message.

Coch Republic at MM90.8 is near the Tavenier / Key Largo border. They dive all 3 wrecks you mentioned, plus they go a bit further south and dive the Eagle, also.

If you are driving down from NC, you might also consider that there are a lot of wrecks in the Ft. Lauderdale / Pompano area. Conrad Nix runs the "Miss Conduct" 6 pack, making it easier to get up a quorum to do the wrecks.

Hey Brad,

I noticed your post and did you know there is a Singles group going there around that same time. Check out the singles group under trips.

We are looking to dive wrecks only, so didn't want to limit the trip as a singles trip. looking for people interested in the deeper dives, no reef watching. while we won't mind any singles coming along, and will welcome anyone who wants to join us, we would like to meet up with the slightly more advanced divers who would be comfortable with 3 days of deep dives on the area wrecks.

have done many dives in the fort lauderdale area, and while i did enjoy them, my buddy just got back from Iraq and really wanted to dive the Speigal, Duane and Bibb.

still haven't locked in charter yet, the one we usually do business with is booked for the week. but might just give the operation in Tavineir a call.

lol, with all the interest people have in this trip, it seems a 6-pack provide more than enough room

:-)

Bradford,
Conch Republic is a great dive op, but it's a long haul from Tavernier to the Grove, Bibb and Duane. There's several very good op's at MM100, which is a very short ride out to all three wrecks. Hope this information helps and you have a great trip. Dive safely. :palmtree: Bob

Brad,

Actually, the charters in Tavernier can get to the Bibb & Duane almost as fast as those based in Key Largo. The Grove is a tad far for most operators out of Tavernier. OTOH, they can easily reach the Eagle.

I'm not sure the singles trip would be the right trip for you because it is March 25 - 30 not March 13 - 15. OTOH, we will be diving the three wrecks you plan to dive, plus the Eagle. We'll use a Key Largo operator for the Grove and a Tavernier operator for the other three.

Have fun on your trip! Consider adding the Eagle to your schedule, it's my personal favorite.

I've used dive op's from Tavernier and those @ MM100, Sea Dwellers and Blue Water Divers, and it's a much shorter ride than from Tavernier. :palmtree: Bob

yeah, i can't make the weekend of the singles trip or else we would do that. i know some of the people on that trip, and know they are only into wrecks and are a great bunch of people to dive with.

but the job thing will only let me get away for the 13,14,15 of March :-( so have to try and get a small group together or else it will be my buddy and i vs the reef divers lol

Blue Water Divers is our charter of choice, they are an excellent outfit and i recommend them to anyone visiting Key Largo. however, because they are so awesome, they are already booked with private charters for the timeframe i'm looking at.

try island ventures in key largo. along with divers city in tavernier, they both have an excellent reputation for dive charters and ean fills among the locals. both have 30ft island hoppers, max 8 or 10 divers, and flexible dive profiles,,,,,,,,,,,,,
