Is it too early to start worrying about conditions? Weather.com and wunderground have high winds? Where should I be looking to check weather?

I'm watching Weather Underground and Intellicast. There might be a day or two with rough conditions, but remember that the direction of the wind is crucial. Winds out of the North and NE are not as bad because there is land to mitigate the effect on the open water...but bring a jacket to wear on the boat :D

We'll be there too...praying for the best:blessing:

I like Marine since you can pick your area.

Forecast can vary a lot depending on if you are going out to the deeper wrecks or willing to dive on the shallower reefs.

If you have a windy day you can play in Jules and look for sea horses. Beats a quarry in GA.

Keeping fingers crossed! When do I start to get worried? Is 3-5's going to be rough out there?

Don't worry about the seas. If the boat runs, it'll probably be ok. What's the worst thing that can happen - you might get greasy belly and heave a little. It's Thanksgiving so after you get back to land, you can stuff that vacuum cavity in your stomach with a ton of food, go to sleep, and wake up with renewed purpose and hope.

Predictions are just that...educated guesses and have been off especially the further out they are on the time line. 3-5s, and even 4-6s, are doable particularly on larger more stable boats and if you are resistant to sea sickness. Comfort level also has a lot to do with experience and over all watermanship. Someone who is fit and experienced might be fine but a child or older diver might not as easily negotiate entries and exits... and forget doing surface skills with OW students in rougher conditions. Also keep in mind that while it maybe rougher on the surface it is usually much calmer the deeper you are underwater. The key to successfully surviving rougher waters is to minimize boat time and time on or near the surface. I tell my Buddy that I will do a negative entry and meet up 10-15 ft below the boat or 15ft down the line. Coming back I hang 10-15 ft below the ladder until its my turn rather than hanging on a tagline on the surface for 5-10 mins for my turn on the ladder. If you are prone to sea sickness, take a double dose of OTC remedies before bedtime and another dose upon waking .
Most importantly remember THE #1 Rule:"Anyone can call a dive at anytime for any reason, no repercussions"... even at the dock.

The one thing about a dive trip that cannot be controlled is the weather. But you can still relax, eat well, enjoy the company you keep, and the local environs and culture. The Keys has a lot to offer in addition to diving.
Hope you have a great trip and good weather.

The wind direction will be changing...looking much better for Thursday and Friday. That's our last day of diving, so haven't checked beyond then.

Did the grove this morning with Silent World. Was a cold morning with a steady breeze. Going out was not bumpy at all. Viz was over 50' and no current. Silent world is top notch so far! Looking forward to dbl dipping the grove again with them tomorrow!

Again Silent world was on their game! We went to the grove again with a bit more waves today. Got up to 6-8's but the dives were amazing! 100' + viz! Only issue was getting back on the boat after with all the surge but Capt Todd is +++! Going to go do a 3 tank shallow dive to the Abyss and Elbow reef tomorrow hope the viz is there.
