I will be in Key Largo on the 13th of June. Will be doing an 8:30a with Rainbow Reef. I need suggestions for snorkling. I have family that wants to snorkle while I dive and I would like to snorkle with them after my dive.

Any suggestions???

Others can give you more precise answers but most of the Keys is snorkeling or deep snorkeling 20~30' --
I would not dive a snorkel boat again that was aweful. I would snorkel a snorkel boat in the keys though. John Pennekamp and Looe Key are my recommendations.

Almost any of the shallower sites are fine for snorkeling - just avoid the deeper wrecks, which should not be difficult to do. The sites they are likely to take you will be fine for both.

Gotta agree w/ Eric that I avoid boats w/ snorkelers, as I prefer sites a little deeper.

Are you looking for them to go out on the boat with you while you dive and they snorkle or you want them to go to a good snorkle place while you are on the boat and you meet them afterwords?

Any shallow reef would be good for both you and your family you can dive and they can see the reef at the same time.

OR

You hit rainbow reef and when your done meet them at Harry Harris Park so you can all snorkle off the beach. It really cool and the kids will have fun.

Harry Harris has a beach with a coral rock pool it has grates to keep out the huge fish but things the size of maybe 2' can get in. Has a bathroom with the showers there so you can rinse off as well. Nice park also has a nice boat ramp.

A group of us went diving a couple weeks ago and we had some snorkelers with us as well. I called Silent World early in the week to book the boat, and we were the first to call so they asked where we wanted to go...we did the Christ Statue and Banana Reef. We had fun, and our buddies who snorkeled loved it too. My max depth on both dives was ~20-25 feet.

All the suggestions sound good. I belive the Harry Harris beach would be the choice. How do I find that. I will be diving with Rainbow Reef. They want to snorkle while I dive and we will snorkle together when I'm done with the dive. Any suggestions that you can give me for anything to do or go would be appreciated. Thanks Becky. I might give you a ring too.:D

Here is the website for Harry Harris IMO this is one of the best beaches we have here in the Keys with depth and white sandy beaches. Perfect for family's to enjoy the Atlantic and see the islands just off shore. Gives you directions to park as well as pictures.

Becky, the website doesn't say...can you bring dogs to HH Beach? I love that beach, have taken many out of towners snorkeling there when I still had the house.

Thanks Becky, I wonder what restricted means...oh well, I'll call them some time before ITK. My doggies will be at the pet motel and I like checking them out for a few hours to take them for a swim! I took them to Kawama to swim last year but there was so much seaweed.
