Hi all..
I'm a new diver (25+dives) and am now thinking about a drysuit. I live in the Lake Tahoe Ca. area and waters can be a bit chilly for my 7mm suit. Anybody recommend a particular brand, model etc.. What to look for in buying one.. What to watch out for..Looking at a price range between $500 to $1500. What features do I need or are nice to have. Any help will be appreciated... Thanks.. Kenny :

Hi Kenny,

Welcome to Scubaboard. We dive quite a bit in Tahoe and staying warm is always an issue since the water temp is about 41 degrees right now. I would recommend looking into a custom DUI with a 400 gram undergarment. Make sure if you are going order one that you spend the little bit of extra money and get the custom fit since it makes all the difference in the world. I'm not sure what store you are going through up there in Reno, but I would recommend contacting Rich Christiansen over at Adventure Scuba. Rich really is a good guy and should be able to fix you right up. If Rich can't get one for you, Dolphin Scuba has great prices on DUI and is one of the top DUI dealers around. Please let me know if that helps. :)

Kenny,

I'm not so sure you can get a custom cut DUI suit for $1500.. but there's several other options you might look at.

Take a peek at the Bare, Diving Concepts, Mobbys, Whites, etc., suits. Lots of folks on the board swear by them.

Some of these can be had for around $1000.

I like the Diving Concepts and Bare suits the most... you might start by looking at the different models available from the various companies, and see what suits you like.

-brandon.
