Here is another video by Aaron ‘Bertie’ Gekoski of SZtv, published in Feb 2018 with the help of Scuba Junkie Resort.

Getting there is half the fun.
Two ways of getting to Derawan: through Berau(3hrs by car and a short distance by boat) or Tarakan(min of 3hrs by speed boat). Garuda charges a bit more for their flight to Berau than Tarakan from Jakarta.
Tarakan International Airport is quite a recent addition. Therefore you can mix Sipadan with Derawan and Scuba Junkie have dive centre in both places. "Mas Wings" has daily(?) flight between Tawau and Tarakan.
Maratua and Kakaban are very good and Derawan is OK for macro. As for Sangalaki it is the manta that divers come to see. Whalesharks are also around Derawan and their feeding by local fishermen also attract snorkellers early in the morning.

Have you been on the Scuba Junkie mix Sipadan with Derawan trip?

NO.
But I am pretty sure it can be done otherwise SJ won't be offering their service on that route.

Mas Wings schedule:
TWU/TRK: 10:30/11:10
TRK/TWU: 11:35/12:15

A very short flight but do need to get up very early to catch the plane.
