I am actually in the process of buying my first digital set up and I found this forum and a few others while researching what was out there. I've been sitting back and reading your posts and taking it all in for a while now, and I would like to thank Dee, Allan from Underwater Digital(you will be hearing from me soon!) Rooster, Juv, Clive Francis and everyone else who contributes on a regular basis. Your information has been invaluable in my decision making process. All of your photo's are inspiring to say the least... especially coming from landlocked Canada where we have been dealing with snow and sub zero temperatures already!

It looks like the new Olympus 5050 will be the starting point for digital for me. I have shot with the Motormarine cameras in the past as well as Sea and Sea (rentals on trips), and have yet to scan anything into the computer, but hopefully soon!

Thats it for now, but I'm sure the questions will be flowing soon enough!

I'm anxious to hear about the C-5050 in use. As much as I'd like to have one, I haven't worn the new off my C-4040 yet! There are enough consistancies in the C-XOXO series of cameras that we'll be able to help you get started.

Keep us posted and let us know how it goes!

Another website you might check out for some excellent digital information is Digital Diver. Jeff has some excellent information in his basic primer and housing comparison. And don't forget to check out his digital dedicated message board.

Thanks Dee... I am actually reading posts on the other forum right now!! Like I mentioned, I have been researching for about a month and a half now, and in that time, I have read yours and others posts, and through these I have found some great resources, including Jeff's. Sounds to me like its a fairly tight nit community and thats mainly why I have'nt posted anything until now. Can't wait to get everything and get somewhere tropical soon!

Dan....don't let the tight nit community feel deter you! I guess in lots of ways it is a small group but these guys are the ones who have been so instrumental in getting u/w digital photography off the ground.

If you've been following the discussions, you can see that buying the camera/housing and taking the pictures is just a small part of it all.
