I am curious how the divers of 20 years in the future will look back at our mania for killing lionfish.

Will it be with approval, or, condemnation? An interesting thought.

All the best, James
That depends. Do you look back at our mania for virtually eradicating polio, smallpox, and yellow fever with approval or condemnation? After all, the organisms which cause those diseases have a right to live, too, don't they? :D

But seriously, I believe that divers 20 years from now will look back on it with indifference, because divers killing a few lionfish is not likely to have much effect on the big picture.

I figure in 20 years someone will look back on my idea for mounting laser beams on the sharks' heads as being responsible for fixing the LF problem....

(Seriously, I am still trying to stop laughing about the title of the thread.....)

Me too :rofl3:

We spent a week at the Reef House last March. DM David averaged about 8 lion fish kills every dive, about 160 dead LF. At least one DM in Roatan is working hard at it.

In 50 years, there will be no more corals left on earth, so it doesn't matter if all those coral fishes gets eaten up or not.

It is more like shoveling sh=t into the tide but it does make people feel like they are doing something
