The BIG deal. . . is a lot of divers that can't go diving every day. There are thousands of people with a little or a lot of diving experience and want more. You're pursuing more dive classes, and that is a good idea. You can also learn about specialties you can't find at home. How to dive, where to dive and what equipment to use. . . are all covered in the forums. If your local dive shops don't have a doctor specializing in decompression illness, read what Dr. Deco can teach you. If you can't afford tropical vacations, find the forum of divers in your area and ask them where to dive. Jump to the forums and you'll find an education you won't find in any book, and more current than any printed media.

Mudhole is right on point. There is no better place to get up to date info from very informative people. I've learned a ton here... oh.. and welcome to the best scuba forum on the net
