Well the 24 hour leak test is over. Both BCDs passed with flying colors. (No leaks).
My research uncovered the following. The BCD's were purchased last year by the dive shop that I bought them from to be used in their rental fleet. Mine (size XL) spent the year on the shelf, with the exception of a few pool dives. My wife's a (size S) was pool dived a but bit more as it is the most popular size for women divers and the LDS had a lot of women students last year.
The model is still in production for non-US markets, and the only recall notices re 2004 Aeris BCDs in Canada had to do with low presure inflator on the Atmos XT model, and that was a case of the inflator button sticking.
There is a hardware fix for it, so just to be on the safe side (my favorite side of the street) my wife and I will pool test these two on Tuesday and if they work out okay, we'll finish up the CW portion on the course with them, then it's into the LDS for the maintneance, check out, and inflator replacement BEFORE the OW dives.

slight math error on my part... that was posted early in the morning from my house before the 2nd cup of coffee. With the SB discount.. it would be $359... See... If I used a computer instead of tables I wouldn't have these mistakes... oh... that's a different thread.

Well as per requested....
Judy and I pool dived the new BCDs, and they fit, and they worked great. Yesterday I talked to the Canadian rep for Aeris regarding a recall that might effect these units, but I was told that the BCDs that Jude and I got were not part of the recall, as they did not have the same integrated octo, which was part of the problem that spawned the recall.
October 1, I'll get the chance to test the BCD's under pressure (well at least 3 bar anyway) and of they can pass that then I've got a good deal on these and will be a very happy camper.

Verdict's in......
Semi Happy Camper.
We've got to get some minor modifications done...nothing too drastic, a chest strap, and some added velcro on the cumberbunt. Other than that they perfromed very well.

Congrats on getting a good deal for a BC that you both will enjoy! It's always tricky buying used gear that you don't have any experience with, but you're proof that it can work out well. Enjoy your diving!!!
