Mandy3206:
Why did you removed the QR buckle?

All the BCs (jacket style) that I've used, all had QR on the shoulder straps and have never presented a problem.

I was just wondering why

Hello Mandy3206,
I was diving with my Brother In Law off Costa Rica and he was diving the same setup as yours with doubles. We were in a small 20' center console where the only place for the gear to be stowed was laying on the floor. He stepped on his qr buckle and cracked it. He simply cut the sewn qr buckle off and ran straight webbing through the sternum ring as it was being done on the other shoulder. After this, I did the same. You are correct that this type of thing probably never happens, but I figured I'd eliminated one less worry...now all I have is webbing and steel. The great thing about this type of harness is that you can open it up much looser than the one piece HOG harness and simply use the sternum strap to snug up the system. This allows no re-sizing when going from dry with extra thermals to light wetsuit. I've thoroughly enjoyed using mine.

OK, I see your point, I'll try donning and doffing the rig without unbuckling the QR just to see if there's much diference and in case some time it fails, nice trick for a quick repair

OMS Test Report :

Ok, after a couple of weekends, testing and fiddling with the BP setup, I can tell you for sure that I should have bought this rig at least 4 yrs ago.

Ergos are super, the bungie issues are as follows:

1) The bladder can be easily manually inflated at depth, I did it at 95 ft and no problems at all.

2) The bungies don’t represent any risk of entanglement, and perform as expected, the bladder was neatly compresed near the SS BP, with doubles, it should work better.

3) The bungies didn't trap any air in "remote parts” of the bladder, you just shift position and the air goes to the apropiate dump valve.

4) The taco effect was allmost inperceptible due to the bungies, the only part that tacoed a bit (covered half the cilynder in a horizontal position) was the bottom part of the wing, the one that didn't have the bungies.
In the upper bugied part of the bladder, only tacoed less than a quarter of the cilynder in a horizontal position.

I was able to make these observations by myself, and notice the diferences, 'cause my buddy just bought the same rig that I did, so he looked at mine and I looked at his.

In conclusion, the 45# bungied bladder, worked great with single tank, I was able to loose 6# from my weight, due to the SS BP.

One point that is strange, is that the SS BP weights 6# and the SCA weights 2#, so I was suposed to shave 8# from my current 12# weight. Even that I could dive with only 4#, I noticed that with 6# I was able to control better my bouyancy at my SStop at the end of the dive, with only 4# I had a bit of trouble at the SStop.

I'm very happy with my rig and all rumors had been dissipated, so from now on, is customize to the max, I specially like the numerous attachement points in this SS BP, it allows you to personalize your own configuration and doesn't limit you future configuration options.

I would recomend this rig to anyone interested in updating to a new BC.

As soon it dries, I’ll take a few pics and post then here for you to see!!!!
