ACK! I just came from the 2nd LDS and they said the pool temp for their class is ack 94
He had to be crazy but he said they don't want ppl getting cold
so then they take them to the beach and put them in 60 for OW. go figure

That's a pretty big difference, especially for OW class. At the shop I work at (granted we're in Hawaii) the pool we use is usually between 74-80. And the water temp here is usually about 72-75. That way it's not a big difference. Plus, who needs a heated pool in Hawaii?

Yeah the 1st LDS refuses to pay the gas bill for heated so they hold class in full suits and the students aren't near as shocked when they hit the cold coastal water:11:

I like my pool to be about 80 to 85 degrees. In California where it gets to be 115 degrees in the summer. That temp is down right refreshing. Regardless of the ocean temps. I wish the ocean was that comfortable, but the residents of the reef might complain a bit if we warmed it up that high.

True. I guess I'm spoiled. I dive in nice warm Hawaiian waters quite a bit. (like ever single dive in my log) But, I did my OW class in a non-heated outdoor pool here at night. So, it wasn't warm by any means. But, I was also not shocked in the slightest by water temperatures at the 35 ft. we did our OW dives in.

Hey got a couch where i can come and see what i'm missing in Hawai'i? Or anyone that's within say.... 6 hours of a beach?

I do have a couch but I don't really know you... sorry. But there are also like 4000 hotels here. I work at a dive shop, so I can book the boat trips.. but you have to figure out how to get here. Dude, it's expensive.

Oh btw offroaddiver, I'm originally from SW Virginia. So, I feel your pain.

Carolyn!!! Are you gonna take that lying down?!!!!:D

Ok...no one commented on the funny cartoon I found as a perfect response to Mike's "CAT" Scan pic! I am sooo disappointed lol! :mooner: TEE HEE! :D

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Dude, it's expensive.

No kiddin! With the craziness going on out there thanks to ridiculous Oil Speculators...I have had to completely scrap my dive plans for Nov/Dec. I was supposed to go to the Isla of Socorro on another SRI expedition, but the airfare to CABO SAN LUCAS from Georgia is almost 1K!!!! I was also looking at Hawaii...Scrapped that one too! I looked at Guadalupe for white sharks, no go there either! So, for my 40th Bday, I have decided to do the Tiger Shark Liveaboard out of the Bahamas since I can drive to W. Palm and take the boat there instead of flying! Sheesh! This is beyond disgusting! Oh well...as long as I get to dive with a really big shark for my Bday, I will be happy!
