I got on the phone again and was ready to close the account. Got ahold of someone that actually pulled up my account and they gladly waived the fee and gave me a credit for the troubles. So I just have to remember to hit where it hurts... wallet.

As long as it doesn't hurt my credit ratings and it doesn't happen again I'll be cool.

I've found it amazing how asking to close the account has often caused the Visa and Mastercard folks to amazingly rethink their fees that they've charged for something.


Customer retention is huge with these companies. They have a whole seperate department for closing cards, but in reality, it's a "Rentention Department" to try to get people not to close them.

I took my camera plane to Vortex today, did some video...


wow... that's one of the better shots I've seen of Vortex..


boy for it being the day before 4th of July, that place is EMPTY!


(which is a surprise compared to about 2 years ago when Vortex said over the 5 day holiday 4th of July weekend that they had over 10,000 people there...
