Just bought the Geo, setting question

I just bought Geo and so far so good. Its easy enough to use but I'm not sure what's the purpose of this setting. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks.

SET FO2 50% DEFAULT ON

When set ON, the GEO's nitrox mix will default to 50% O2, 79% nitrogen - following a previous nitrox dive. When set OFF, the mix will default to the previous dive's setting.

Thanks Doug. But what are the implications of this setting to me as a diver? Is it a safeguard in case people forget to set their FO2 before a dive? Hope I'm not asking a noobie question.

Alright i have the dumbest geo question. I just bought this for my girlfriend and i can't figure out how to switch it to freshwater from salt....i've been through the book a bunch of times and must be overlooking it. Can someone help me out here? thanks
