Hi

I just bought my first regulator, and it was from an online vendor. Other than following the checklist on this forum, is there anything else that I need to do to it before diving? I called the vendor, and they said that they had flow-benched the regulator before it was shipped.

I will be able to dive with it in a pool before heading to Aruba. I have an IP gauge coming, and it should arrive before I leave. If it matters, it is a Hollis D2/212 rig.

Thanks

P.S.
First post on Scuba Board. I have really learned a lot lurking around.

Welcome.
I'd say you've got things well covered.
Well done on getting the IP gauge.

Welcome to SB. As Fishpie has already posted you have it covered. The pool dive before your trip will likely reveal issues if there are any. Just be sure to allow enough time prior to your trip to allow for tune/repair/adjustment should it need it. Hollis make some nice gear. Good luck and have a great trip.

Very, very occasionally you'll get a brand new regulator that isn't working properly just out of the box but by and large a simple pool dive will show up any problems. Don't just check for function - look for little streams of bubbles coming from where they shouldn't be.

Welcome to SCUBAboard!

Good idea to "test" dive it in the pool.

Have Fun in Aruba.

tennjay,

Write down your IP reading today (I'm curious to know what it is), once you get you IP gauge, and then check it periodically to see if it creeps up. My new Mares 42T crept up to almost 160 psi within a few months.

I had planned tracking it. Hopefully, I can remember to post it.
