Ohh, I just have to say something, because I think somebody should.
I find the content in this thread concerning.
Garyfotodiver I can assure you there is such no thing as a free country in today's world, but you are absolutely are entitled to your own opinion.
Fortunately or unfortunately (you pick one) your children are not entitled to the actions of your opinion.
That is all I'll say, I'm not trying to start an arguement but provoke some deeper thinking (no pun intended!).
Dive safely!!

No kidding! Well, after raising five children, ranging in age from 26 to 9, I HAVE given the matter much thought. And I have written about this matter before.
The USA is a free country in that we have more personal liberty than ANY other country in the world. And here, we ARE entitled to an opinion. When I am in Canada, I follow Canadian law, and I expect Canadians to do the same when they are here in the USA.
My children are my responsibility and I am prepared to put my life on the line for theirs at anytime. I have more knowledge, experience, and understanding than my children in certain areas, and I use it.
When somebody provides me reliable data contrary to my understanding, I change my way. I have not seen any regarding this issue. I have discussed it with several instructors, researched on the i-net, did a good job of it. Found NOTHING!!
So we dive. I'm planning a vacation trip to Wreck Valley this summer, back to my diving origins. It should be fun to do Shark River Inlet with my 15 year-old. If I do any off-shore diving, it will be very easy dives, as we have not done difficult wrecks yet.
Happy Diving yourself!
