So based on the map, I think we hadn't reached Cannery point. Maybe we were about a grid box lower and to the right when we decided to turn around. We surface swam out east about two boxes and then north about a half a box. Not so far in retrospect (either on the surface or underwater), but man.. it was hard navigating though all that kelp up on the surface. We definitely did not see the kind of stuff in the Thumbs up photos. That website is really cool by the way. It makes me want to dive at 132ft (Not any time soon though.. I think I should try and make it to 60 first. :) ) I think I'll definitely take you guys up on the diving hospitality. It would be great to see how that area is supposed to be done!
Thanks!
Rachel

Actually, my screen name comes from my former pet rat, Goddard (named after the rocket scientist). Current pet rats include Feynmann, Hubble and Galileo (Leo). So.. before I'm excommunicated from the board...they make great pets. I should probably leave it at that!

Once you start getting familiar in the 60 ft range have some one show you the "hole in the wall" it's a very good land mark.... Also the Anchor is something that's interesting and pretty shallow also

BOTH of the big anchors in Whaler's Cove are in pretty shallow water.

Chuck Tribolet:
Where are they?

There's one roughly in line with "the pit," looking out from the ramp. The other is in the middle of the kelp bed further in the cove, in about 15 ft, with a fairly long concreted chain. I e-mailed Pat Lovejoy awhile back because I thought I'd seen two different anchors, and he confirmed that there are indeed two anchors in Whaler's Cove. The one way inside hardly ever gets seen-we all know how the vis gets ugly that far inside.

Neither I nor Pat bothered to get compass bearings on them though.
