This is over a week old, so I presume the search is over...

Search ongoing for Jordanian missing diver in UAE — official
AMMAN — Jordan's Consulate in Dubai is following up with concerned agencies in UAE on the issue of a Jordanian who was reported missing while diving in Emirates territorial waters.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs said that Amman's Consulate in Dubai has been informed that pilots and divers from the UAE Army have been involved in an ongoing search for the missing diver since last Monday.

The official, who requested anonymity, said that UAE authorities have been investigating the issue with the persons who accompanied the missing Jordanian diver, and have preserved the diving boat and equipment.

Rescue teams were still carrying out search operations between 6am and 6pm, pending any developments, the official said.

The missing diver was identified in social media and news websites as Sultan Sabha.

Sultan's brother, Diaa, called on his friends on his Facebook page to pray for his missing beloved without giving further details.

An unnamed brother of Sultan was quoted in Alwakeel News websites as saying that Sultan went missing after he faced "strong" currents while diving deep in the UAE territorial waters.

It was on U533 two weeks ago.

The information is still a bit sensitive and I'm not going to comment, he was one of my friends in our tech group.

@Diving Dubai does the Dhow boat for our upcoming trip has marine radio with DSC or AIS capability or satellite phone?

What would be your rescue plan if you were lost at sea?

Yep. I‘ll bring my signaling devices including PLB, PAB, DSMB, Dive Alert, etc., like shown here: Best signaling devices from the searcher’s point of view - update

How good is cellular phone signal around those areas?

Just thinking out loud of the alternative option, if the cellphone signal is spotty.

If I were to be lost at sea there (knock on wood for safe diving & sailing), besides the US Embassy in UAE, whom else my emergency contact (my brother) should call if NOAA were to receive my distress signal & calling him to verify the signal were legitimate.
