They are planning to add golf courses to Jonathan Dickinson State Park! This is currently protected natural land that is full of wildlife, some of which is endangered! There is a meeting in Stuart Florida on August 27, 2024 please see the details below. Please help us stop this destruction of nature.

Apparently they are doing things like this in multiple state parks across Florida and having all of the meetings for approval on the same day in different locations across the state.

Pure lunacy. That park is full of federal and state listed species. There are hundreds of defunct and nearly defunct golf courses throughout the state. Wrecking scarce endemic scrub habitat to build another one is about as idiotic as it could get. Not to mention how much water will be wasted trying to force golf course grass grow on sand hills.....

It is hilariously called the "great outdoors initiative"

Pickleball courts and bungalows on honeymoon island

They lease the land to a private corp to build. Once they get approval for golf course, think how easy (and profitable) it will be to add very high end, exclusive homes? The governor must want this.

Meetings have been postponed to the week of September 2, ostensibly to find larger venues (the Jonathan Dickinson meeting in Stuart was to be held at a location with limited parking and capacity for only 150 under the fire code; upwards of 500-1000 were expected to show) ... I'm sure they're hoping people will have vacation plans Labor Day week.

Multiplied by 9.... JD state park was only one of them.
