For those of you that didn't make this party you missed a great time!

As with any typical Saturday of diving at the mine, check-ins began promptly at 7am consisting of the normal waver, C-Card verification and a safety briefing

By 9am it was party time!

The first event of the day was a Pumpkin carving dive.
Step one required the cleaning of the gourds topside to prevent excessive contamination in the mine. No Pumpkin guts for me please!

Next up was the ritual slaughter...errr.... carving ;)
So we packed-up our gear (including the pumpkin)
§ walked down to the dock.
§ Geared up
§ entered the water
§ Dropped to the bottom in the shallows
§ Air-Check
§ Carved!
§ Checked air again...
§ 1000 PSI for 15 minutes @ 20feet? I was more excited than I realized *GRIN*...
§ Drop backup light into the pumpkin and finish the details.
§ Turn the pumpkin over one of the Divecons

As divers completed their carvings, we were regrouped and taken on a short underwater tour of the "neighborhood" which had been tastefully decorated for the occasion.

Out of air, we all headed topside for our surface intervals, the ritual sacrificing of chickens...err "lunch" and a bit of scavenging... err site-seeing.

A scavenger hunt, with destinations above and below the surface, provided pleasant distractions throughout the day.

Finally it was time to go mug the neighbors.... err trick-or-treating.
So it's back into the hole for our on the second dive where we went house-to-house,
or more accurately bucket-to-bucket collecting candy like starving children!
Candy! YEAH!
Joining us on this dive was a Clown and an early appearance for Santa Clause.
(Who knew that no-so-little-red-elf was militant about candy!)

It was a cold, dark and wet midday to be gathering treats, what a TREAT lights out diving can be, oh the candy was good too!
It really did remind me of some feels from my youth, well not the regulator in my mouth... that was College and it wasn't dispensing air...err that's another story *GRIN*

Out-of-air for the final time that day, many departed to let their own kids loose on their neighborhoods.

For the rest of us it was time for a gathering of ghouls at the Depot, Formal attire required! Witches, Pirates, Hippies, Cowboys, Indians, Smartie Pants, Spelunkers, Gangsters... all were in attendance. Having never been to the Depot this was truly a new experience, and I'd have kicked myself for missing it.

About the Depot: Doug, the owner, restored the old station and now runs it as a hotel. A part of the depot was rebuilt as a pub and I'm telling you it has some very fine woodwork throughout the room! If you like woodwork then just seeing this room could have justified the attending the party.

Of course the costume party was a fantastic opportunity to mix with the dive staff, share stories, play games and just unwind. Personally, this was one of my least stressful days of diving, Caribbean included.

Finally, with a dive planned for the morning I packed it in early and got some rest.

There are things I hadn't considered after certifying diving such as:
Treasure hunting (Bonne Terre, 2x)
Looked for Easter days on a reef (Curacao)
Pumpkin Carving / Trick-or-Treating (Bonne Terre)

This Halloween trip ranks at the top of my list for shear enjoyment!

Thanks to Everyone at Bonne Terre Mine for a fantastic weekend!
