I picked up a flyer for Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures Palm Beach and wondered if anyone had good luck diving with them. I would like to take a trip down to Florida over New Years and dive with them or anywhere between North Palm and Ft Lauderdale. Any ideas or favorites out there. I'm coming from Charlotte, NC and don't know where the best places would be vs. distance of driving time. I can get to the springs around Gainesville in 7 hours, Palm Beach in 9 or 10 hours and Ft Lauderdale in 11 or so. The Keys are out this trip because of drive time. Thanks for all of your thoughts, opinions and experiences with your favorite dive sites and operators.

Abernathy and Pura Vida are both good dive shops around
the West Palm Beach area. Your diving will really depend on
the weather and ocean conditions.

is a great Op. Boats can get crowded on occasion;good rental gear if needed. Do a 3 dive and lunch trip with thier six-pak.

Abernathy is okay, but Capt Ray Davis has the best boat on the strip. The vessel is the Narcosis she is a Pro 48 now a Island Hopper product. The boat is rooooommmyyyy and fast. (866) 627-2674 I just dove with them last Wednesday.=-)

I Dove with Abernathy's over DEMA this year.

Great people, Nice boat, at that time had a DM and a Boat captain on board. Always a DM in the water. But you don't have to follow them.

Our DM was Lorna, I think, And she is also a real Hotty.

They knew the sights well they were diving and also got us there and back. Always helpfull and afterwards asked us out to eat with them. Really nice people.

We hooked up with them at DEMA and I gave them my Cell number. I screwed up and gave them the Wrong Cell Number. They Set up another boat for us. And then couldn't reach us. We showed up anyway and they were worried about us. Said they'd been calling all night. LOL

Really nice people...

I had a really good time. The only complaint I've heard about them was that the boats are crowded. We got lucky and went out on the six pack for the price of the big boats, so I was pleasantly surprised by that. The staff and crew were all really friendly, too.

I dove with Jim in 1997 and had a fantastic time....can't wait to go back. We had a local news crew on our boat, as he was taking some baby sea turtles that were raised & nurtured at one of the local fisheries out to sea, to start living their lives in the big pond. :)
