I have my pool sessions coming up next week for my drysuit training and I still don't have a pair of fins. Neither of my other pairs of fins fit my size 12 Trek Boots. Which BTW easily fit my size 12.5 foot inside of a 3 mil boot.

It looks like LeisurePro has the XXL Scubapro Jet Fins for $62 - but they're not in stock - and the Turtles for $90. I can probably get the Jets from my LDS for ~$90 if LP doesn't get them in soon.

For those of you who have used both (or just have a strong opinion either way) which would you choose. The Jets or the Turtles? Or is there no real difference?

I won't have the fins by Monday night anyway so I will be wearing an old pair of booties so I can use a pair of fins I already own.

They're both the same. The Turtles came into favor because the foot pocket on the Jets were too small for most drysuit boots. I have read that the pockets on the XXL Jets are huge, so I would make sure on the size.

They're both the same.

I'm not so sure about that. I dive the Turtles and love 'em. But honestly, they're shorter, wider, and more flexible than the Jets ... so I don't see how they could be the same.

Also, for those who haven't yet been informed, IDI (the company that makes Turtles) is out of business. So if you want Turtles you'd better find some in stock somewhere and get 'em soon ...

They're not the same, Phil. Jet Fins are stiffer, and not as wide.

I matched my Turtles with XL Jets. They were the same. Maybe the XXLs are different.
Could be true about stiffer as I didn't try that.

Boogie711:
They're definitely not as stiff... at least, mine aren't anyway.

Here - side by side analysis. This was taken last summer, so no XXL Jets, sorry. The other one is an IDI Power Fin, also in XL. I like it because it has a slightly larger foot pocket than an XL Jetfin.

well, they certainly look quite different from each other. hard to imagine they would perform exactly the same.

I have both Jets and Turtles and definitely prefer the Turtles. I can't say for certain if it is the length, width, foot pocket or combination thereof, but the Turtle just seems to work better for me.

I do not own a drysuit but I do have the thick soled scubapro boots size 10. Do you think that I will be happy with the XL jet or is the pocket wider on the turtle? I have the scubapro velocity XL now and it is really tight on my foot to the point of squezzing it and causing cramps on a couple of occassions.
I don't own a dry suit at this point and time and don't necassarilly see one in thenear future. When I buy mine I will have to get a used one for junior as well. He is tall and skinny so I hope that I could pick up a used suit for him. Do you have to get a suit with heavy boots or are they available with more of a fitted foot pocket. I see that the suits are a totally sealed unit, but do you need to wear a heavy boot over the foot pocket?
