A Cultural Lesson.

Sometimes customs are different, and sometimes they are VERY different......

In Japan Valentines day is for the men.... We get chocolate!!! Lot's of it!!! I came home today and there is a huge pile on the table...from my wife.....my daughters....the next door lady....the girl down the road.....

They get their turn next month......March 14.........it's called "White Lady" day! :D

do it easy:
Kim- you're such a play'uh!
Not me..... it's a Japanese thing. I actually couldn't believe it the first year. I did the (for me) normal thing, and bought my wife all kinds of Valentine's presents....and she was EMBARRASSED!!!!!
You just have to write the play for the audience you have.......otherwise they might not get it.
(Heaven help me if I miss March 14 though!!! :11:)

Now this is a tradition I can really go for... a reciprocal special day for lovers of both genders. The lady takes the initiative on the first, and the man on the second. Quite different from what some American women expect (and not just on Valentine's Day)... gifts and pampering without reciprocity. Hmmm, I'm too late to get to Japan for this year... maybe I should check into airfare next year.

...and the there is "girl's day" with the tea and dolls, right?

My daughter's friends have these big displays in their house for that.

Yes, kind of. That day was originally for something else but the boys have their own day, where they hang up fish shaped streamers from poles, so that day with the displays and all the dolls is now also a girl's day. (to keep things fair )
