I have a trip coming up to San Diego in 4 weeks. I have been checking the Lois Ann's web site to see if they were going to schedule anything. I used them once in the past and was very satisfied. They have not posted a schedule for January so it looks like I need to explore my options. This is where I need some help. Who else should I try to find some dive opportunities with, or are there reasons to avoid diving that time of year?

Thanks

Jeff

I can't recommend anyone more that the great crew and boat over at Marissa dive charters. Marissa Dive Charters Welcome!

Captains Carl and Anita...formally of the Lois Ann....run a first rate charter and are genuinely nice people. Both have been plying socal waters for more than a decade and know all the great spots and when it's diveable and when its better to just stay home. Give them a call.

As a side note, there is a really active bunch of us insane shore divers here in SD and you are welcome to join us for some muck crawling when you are in town.

Carl and Anita were working the Lois Ann the last time I used them. I will be there the week of 14-18. Just trying to figure out if I want to hang in town the weekend before or after my meeting for some good diving. I would love to try and join some of you for a shore dive. Let me know if there is anything planned for that time period, once some plans are formed. I just need to find some place to rent a 7MM suit, lead and tanks to make the shore dive.

okiejeff, make it the weekend before and join the So.Cal. gang on one of our regular "wrinkles BBQ/shore dives" Saturday the 12th we will be in SanDiego, LaJolla ... check out this link
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/tr...08-schedule-monthly-wrinkles-beach-dives.html You will have no problem finding a dozen or two buddies to dive with and there is always some great local guides to keep us from getting lost. Sunday, check in with Lois Ann or the Marissa, can't go wrong with either. And there maybe some us L.A.
divers hanging out for a morning boat dive also. I maybe just one of them.

Thanks for the information. I will post back once I have nailed down a plan. I have an e-mail into Carl to see if they still rent wet suits now that they are with the Marissa. Since I am a 95% WWW, I haven't got my own cold water gear.....yet. Is there still a shop around LaJolla that rents tanks, weights, and suits?

Jeff

jeff, within walking distance to La Jolla Shores is OE Express Scuba and Kayak - Scuba and Kayak La Jolla San Diego but I'll let the locals
give you more input on if there is a better way to go.... we usaully get our fills there if we dive more than the tanks we bring. Hope to see you then but if not you will have no problem finding locals willing to share the water with you the next weekend.
Noticed that Christian "headhunter" does not have all the info up yet...I'm sure he will soon.

OE express is definitely the closest shop to the beach. Ocean Enterprises is a short drive away and may have more of an inventory. Home

See ya next month.
