We went to Negril and stayed at Couples in 2003, and dove with the on-site op. We were going back in 2008 and did a lot of research, and decided to go with SunDivers , and certainly weren't disappointed. We are going back next year, and will be diving with SunDivers again.

Did they pick you at your place? We won't have a car. Are they located in Negril?

Somewhat of an answer; I was somewhat seeking personal experience, anyone else?

They picked us up every morning we were diving with them, promptly, delivered us to their dive shop, and waited until after we had rinsed and packed our gear before taking us back to the resort.

There was never a hitch, they were never late, and they were very courteous. We will be using them again this coming May.

Check with the resort and see which operator they use. You can then 'vet' that operator. Usually if the resort has an operator lined up, which yours mentions diving, so I'd think this was the case, they will either pick you up at the resort or offer a free transfer. I've only been diving a short while, but have been going to Jamaica for years. Resort guests usually get the best service as its in the operators best interest to keep the resort happy and sending business their way.

From the Sundivers web site, it looks like they have moved their operations. I know that they were sold several years ago.

I've been to the "old" Sundivers multiple times, and spent a lot of time in and around Negril. I never had an issue with unsavory people, but then again, I was always accompanied by my local Ja friends.

FWIW, there are some great restaurants in Negril. Don't be afraid to wander off of the resort.

We've been twice and never had a problem. We have stayed at the Couples Negril Resort, but taken side trips to the town of Negril as well as out into the country with guides. Being on the Resort property, we've only been exposed to the peddlers who come up to the Resort edges and along the rope marking off the swimming areas. In town I would say that the shop owners were no more aggressive than we have seen in Mexico, especially the vendors in the tourist areas of Cozumel downtown around the square.

I wouldn't apply concerns about violence in the major population centers of the island onto the more remote and tourist-oriented areas.
