Primary reel wise, can I do it with my 250' reel or do I need to bring my longer one?
Are you asking about the tie-in to the mainline?

250ft seems crazy short for that. I've only used 400ft but can't for sure say 249' wouldnt make it

It is long enough for the rare times that I run a reel in Cave Country. I have a Divesoft reel, that has about 400ft on it, I can use that.

Worst part of jb is lack of a good map. Best one was always the one on the back of one of cave adventurers shirts. Don’t think that’s changed. Made my first few trips to jb more annoying because I had to ask so ,any line questions

Word on the street that someone is mapping JB and even has a few examples out in the wild. I am trying to see if I can purchase a copy. I'd pay even for an incomplete version has long as it covers what I would consider OC range (about 3k or so). I really hate not having a map.

Yes, I seem to remember the tie in being out just past the sign.

The old stick map gets you to the Constellation room and the major side passages.

My 200 foot reel was barely enough.

I’ve been hearing about that map for a while now.

I dunno I like having an adventure and wondering exactly where the fabled jump to XYZ might be and hunting to find it. You all are spoiled following established lines all manicured and mapped with distance arrows every 100ft to know exactly where you are

I was there last weekend and the conditions were good. There was a jump I was told about that is a short but interesting passage. Directly behind chicken head rock there is a line into the ceiling about 40' up or so. It leads to a short and small tunnel. It dead ends and gets silty.

250 is fine. My comment on the map is that there are so many lines in the first couple of hundred feet of the cave, it's unbelievable. Look around a lot.
