I headed out Wednesday (1-13-10) to Marianna for two days of diving at Jackson Blue Springs with Denisegg and GlenFWB. Denisegg has just changed over to sidemount and wanted to get some practice in the water with it. The weather was a little on the chilly side when I met with Glen at Cave Adventurers, but by 10:00am the weather had warmed up and was rather pleasant. We were the only people there on Wednesday and I only ended up seeing one other team at the end of the day on Sunday, so having the place to ourselves was really nice. The water was nice and clear and the flow was low and very manageable. I ran the reel in for our first dive and felt like I have really gotten the hang of running my reel. Once tied into the gold line we pushed out to right at the end of natural light and played around looking at fossils and having fun. On this dive I finally felt very relaxed in my new set-up as well as being in an overhead environment. In my previous dives here my breathing rate was definitely up and even got out a couple of times with a slight headache from CO2 buildup from breathing too fast. This dive was completely deferent. I felt my breathing rate slow to its normal slow pace and it stayed that way over both days. We exited the cavern on 1/6ths after a nice long dive and I left my reel in place. During our surface interval we all enjoyed Glens propane heater that he brought along (definitely nice) :thumbs_up:. On our second dive Glen made a circuit over to the left side of the cavern and back to the gold line and we enjoyed another nice dive. With the sun starting to head down we threw our gear into our vehicles and headed back to Cave Adventurers for fills and then off to Old Mexico for some good food. Glen was only able to play hooky from work for one day, so after eating we said goodbye and Denise and I went to go find a hotel. We ended up going to the American Inn, which is catty-corner to the Executive Inn. If you tell them you are diving with Cave Adventurers they will give a single full size bed for $30.00/night or two queens for $37.00/night. The rooms were nothing special and I guess you could say they were semi-clean. Regardless, they got the job done. The morning came almost too soon and I found myself scrambling to get dressed and get everything loaded back in my truck before 8:00am :sleeping2:. I had brought a portable rack and a fan and it dried my gear perfectly overnight (thank God). I met back up with Denise and we hit up Waffle house for breakfast while we waited for the air temps to climb a bit. We ended up planning our day perfectly. By the time we had signed in at Edds and made it back out to JB the temps were comfortable and we made two more enjoyable dives. I had a great time diving with Denise and Glen as always and look forward to the next trip. I brought my camera along and took some pictures; here are a few from our trip:
