Another advantage of the back inflate BCDs is the fact that they are much less awkward to don. My wife always seemed to struggle getting her arm through that little target area on a vest-style BCD with her very thick exposure suit. This problem was pretty much entirely eliminated when we made the switch and got rid of all that bulk, allowing for a much larger area to put your arm through.

A fix to a very minor pet peeve, but still something that contributes to much more comfortable dives.

The main benefits are definitely the lack of squeeze, overall comfort, and increased options for equipment configuration.
