Pitch and roll? I can't say I can think of a situation where I'd need this.
You can get a magnetometer for a dollar, or an Inertial Measurement Unit with accelerometers, gyros, and magnetometer for 99 cents. If you're adding the magnetometer for the compass, you're getting pitch and roll for -1 penny. And then your marketing specialist puts it in the glossy brochure as a feature.
If you want to try using the IMU for course plotting -- might as well since you already have it -- then you need fixes. GPS will give you only 2, but then the chip is cheap so why not add it.

Add Helium is selling them for about 1350 with the cable. I have no idea what connector they're using but that would be nice to know.

I'm a little confused about the sensor board connection and the company's website says to check availability with the rebreather manufacturer? So I don't know.

10 gasses and 3 Dil's? I guess that fine but when you plug in one of those 10 gasses that becomes your Dil????? SO the 3 Dil's??? I wonder if they mean that you can plug in 3 gasses to replace your 02??? Since some people for REALLY deep dives prefer a lower 02 mix to replace pure 02??? and that makes sense

The best solution is 5 or 10 gasses of OC bailout and 5 or 10 Gasses of CC gas........oh like a Shearwater......

The buttons aren't bad but its not as intuitive as a shearwater.

As for the "features".....the pitch and roll I can see for long scooter dives.....this computer claims to do it all and yet no handy on deco????? TMI in my opinion.

The best idea I've heard so far is an MP3 player for audio books and music.......that would be nice.

I think for now we need to wait and see how this product develops.......

with all the stuff in it, the battery life must be in the order of minutes....

So has anyone played with one of these yet? DRIS just sent me an add and this was one of the items on it. Funny thing though, when you go to their page the item is out of stock for a few more days. Well, I thought it was funny anyways. B.

Empirical based, field trials will prove the value of any feature. Its easy to denounce features but the fact that this is a software definable computer means a lot. As far a power, well internal power management of operations is a big deal as lessons from the mobile industry has proven. I wouldn't speculate that all the features are running continuously. But we'll see results coming in soon enough. I like the DAN DL7 protocol compatibility feature tweak. fwiw, I've contacted the technical support on some questions that will satisfy some curiousity.

Yes, the email went out when the box came in from Italy, but the inventory level wasn't adjusted for a couple days as they came in early

Great computer. It's really packed with features. The buttons aren't bad, even with thick gloves. Once you play with it for about 10 minutes, it's easy to navigate thru. There are a TON of features in it, some that most people will never use, but it's a computer....Most computers (not just dive) are utilized about 10% of what they can actually do.

i've had the iX3M REB for a few months now and can honestly say i've got no regrets, it's performed flawlessly I've only been down to about 53m on it though). I like the deco table you can pull up on the fly to see your future stops and times and the magnetometer has proved useful once in the north sea looking for a wreck in virtually no vis!

I also like the ability to change the GFs in the event of a situation warranting a quick ascent differing from the original plan, hope i never have to use it but seems like a good idea.

As for the rebreather model, i haven't connected it to my breather yet as the cable hasn't been released by Ratio yet. But in terms of bailouts and gas switches, the four buttons are easy to use with thick gloves.

The only things i'd like to suggest to them to change are:

- The function to 'flip' the screen 180 degrees so i can wear it on my right arm with the Reb connection facing the right direction (up my arm) for cable routing.

- on the main dive screen my old Petrel had an option of showing the PO2 for the given depth you were at, this is incredibly useful when Dil flushing the loop and trying to work out what the PO2 should be when there's a lot of other things to focus on.

Apart from that, spot on computer!
