I recently returned from a quick trip to California. I was able to fit two off of Catalina and a free dive off La Jolla. After hearing about kelp diving for decades it was good to finally check things out first person. It is quite a bit different from Florida diving in many respects. Still it was pretty interesting and not as cold as I thought it would be at 63 F. Some photos of what was moving around show up at the link below. Viz. was quite good off Catalina at one point approaching 40 ft.!
