Isolating images with a black background

Thanks Gravity - I thought it was a little strange that a DSLR would be so different from an SLR. Saved me some more experimentation time and possible lost images.

You are welcome. One correction, I said in my post that point and shoot has 'electronic shutter', what i should have said is it has a 'virtual shutter', just in case my meaning wasn't clear.
