I (finally) purchased a Pro V3 heated vest and man: what a game changer. I love being so warm! I have found, however, that the batteries dig into my ribs, to the point where I end up with bruises after longer dives. I wear the vest over a merino wool base layer and underneath a thicker undergarment. I do put a healthy amount of air in my drysuit, but it still feels like the batteries are getting squeezed against my ribs. I've considered wrapping the batteries in some sort of insulative material, or just wearing the vest on top of my thicker undergarment, but wonder if the heat would penetrate efficiently enough. Anyone have any tips for dealing with this? Or is this the price for sweet sweet warmth?
