...I had made the decision we were moving to a simpler dive for safety reasons....
I'll dive with ye any time, Captain!
Rick :D

Island Ventures is my Op of choice. When I worked in the Keys, I'd forgo a free dive on my employer's boat to go with Capt. Brian. I have dove with Ann and Darrel a few times and I am happy that they have continued to run the operation with customer service and safety as their top priority.

I'm not familiar with this dive charter or the details of this incident, but I have never experienced good customer service in the Keys.

Then your just an un pleasable person then. because I and I imagine everyone else on here has had a great experiance with several ops in the keys.

I'm a happy customer of many, many Keys dive shops since 1977! There are some I like better than others, but I simply cannot recall one bad incident with staff, whether in a dive shop or on a dive boat. I've had a few bad motel rooms and a few bad meals down there over the years, but in my 30 years of experience (GAWD I'M OLD), the local dive professionals are outstanding.

"The leader of the group was correct in his assessment that there was no discussion before I left the Spiegel Grove. Discussion was irrelevant at that point. I had made the decision we were moving to a simpler dive for safety reasons."

Well said. Respect.

We bought the company on July 1, 2005. No we worked at Kelly's and Aqua-Nuts before buying the business. Brian moved to North Carolina.

I'd like to say that I've been out with Ann and Darrell at least a dozen dives and they've always been tops in my book. They run a top notch operation and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

They are very customer oriented and flexible when needed and possible. They are safety conscious and prudent.

Just sorry I've not been down to the Keys lately to give them business.

The original poster hasn't even logged in since Monday evening!!! Truly a hit-and-run slam against the dive op. He didn't even stick around for the dialogue.

Seriously Ed, you need to look deeper into this. Something is wrong with this picture.

Yep, thanks for pointing that out Debby. Bert Wilcher is the same instructor that accused American Pro in Crystal River of taking non-cave trained divers into Eagles Nest (for a fee) while he himself took took two non-cave trained students doing recreational helitrox class down to 170' in the Eagles Nest. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black  While I realize being a NAUITEC instructor offers some latitude on the training sites, Eagles Nest is a pretty unforgiving place. When I raised this question on The Deco Stop, he wouldn't respond.

OH MY. Thanks for that info, Brian.

I can't find a "smilie" for "hypocrite." Apparently he has issues with accepting responsibility for anything.

Many thanks to all who participated here including the Island Ventures people. Special thanks to Brian and Debby (with a "y") for keeping things in perspective and adding a dose of reality here.

:D
