This spring my husband and I will be going on a cruise. We'd like to dive at a couple of the ports where we stop. We will be booking with with a LDS, not through the cruise line. If you could only choose two diving destinations (from the list below), which two would you choose and why?

Barbados
Dominica
St. Thomas
St. Kitts

Dominica as # 1 .. . having visited all these locations its first on the list for quality and interest of diving. The subterranead volcanic quality of the island makes for amazing warm water dives. I fyou're crusing also some of the better dive stops are near the cruise ship berths. My next vote would be Barbados. While its a coral based island the diving is next in line for recommendations. The islands are all different too, but if your just interested in rating based on dives this would be my personal recommedation.

I second the Dominica as number one ( the rugged up and down terrain continues underwater), Barbados is beautiful, second and worth diving. St. Thomas I was unempressed with ( reef damage, over dove, limited fish )and I never dove St. Kitts.

I have been to all but St. Thomas and sent divers to all but St. Thomas. Dominica hands down. It's not your typical island. Think National Geographic. Aside from the reputation as a diver's dream there is hiking, culture and more. It's rough and rugged but amazing IMHO.

I was in Dominica about 6 years ago- diving was great. I wish I had seen more of the island. We didn't see any "big" fish but plenty of fish and coral life.
